Your first visit

Where we meet

Lower Clarence Baptist Church
13 Scullin St, Townsend (there is ample onsite parking).

When we meet

Our Sunday morning meetings start at 9.30am and finish at about 10:45am, usually followed with morning tea and a chat.

What can I expect?

A warm welcome

We do our best to make your visit to Lower Clarence a comfortable experience.  You’ll be warmly greeted.

An informal service

Our services are informal. That is, we dress casually,  our services are led by people just like you, and there is often interaction with the congregation.

Children.

We love children, and most mornings we have a short activity in the service before they move to their special activities with their friends.  Children will need to be checked in. Our kid leaders are available to assist. If you prefer to keep your children in the service then that is fine by us. There is also a parent’s room attached to the chapel.

We sing

Singing together isn’t a huge part of our Australian culture but singing is a wonderful way to join together in praise and thanks for what God has done, for what he is doing right now, and for what he will do in the future. Please do not feel obligated to join in, but you are invited to participate wherever you feel comfortable.

We pray

We believe that God not only hears our prayers, but he delights in them.  He wants us to communicate with him and to bring him not only our thanks and praise, but also the things that are weighing on our hearts. So we spend some time each service in prayer.  Often there is opportunity for the congregation to share in prayer.

Offerings

The work of our church is funded by donations and there is opportunity to make a voluntary contribution. Visitors should not feel any obligation to contribute.

We hear from the bible

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word and that it contains what we need to know to live the lives that we were created to live.  During every service, a portion of the Bible will be read and then explained and applied by the pastor or guest speaker.

We remember Jesus’ death and resurrection

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of Christianity.  On the first Sunday of each month, we take some time in our service to specifically remember this, through participation in communion (the Lord’s Supper). Anyone who loves the Lord Jesus is welcome to take part.
